The best area to stay in and the best hotels in Da Nang, Vietnam

I spent around 3-4 months living in Da Nang between August 2023 and February 2024. My partner and I used it as our base for travelling around Vietnam and Southeast Asia because of its great affordability, beach lifestyle and Da Nang International Airport being so close to the city. Plus the Ancient Town of Hoi An is just 30 minutes down the road, so Da Nang is a great base for exploring more of Central Vietnam.

For 3 of those months, we had a long term apartment rental so I can’t claim to have stayed in hotels for that whole time. But the first time we visited, and each time we went back while we were apartment hunting, we stayed at various hotels in Da Nang.

I will say from the top, we are not fancy swanky people, but we do seek out clean, well-maintained hotels and each time we went back we always stayed at the Estrella Boutique Hotel - we loved it so so much!

Estrella Hotel is located on one of the main streets that runs directly from the city to the beach. The hotel itself is around 10 minutes walk in a straight line to reach My Khe Beach - one of the most famous beaches in Da Nang.

We LOVED Estrella because of the prime location, the fact that it’s a very new hotel so all the pictures are accurate (something you’ll learn is not always the case in Southeast Asia!)It's super modern, the rooms are huge, breakfast is included, there’s a rooftop pool the staff are wonderful and the price is AMAZING!

So if you’re like us and don’t need somewhere fancy but you’re looking for modern, spacious, good location, a great price and not wanting to worry about getting scammed - I recommend Estrella Boutique Hotel straight off the bat as the best place to stay in Da Nang!

What is the best area to stay in Da Nang?

The best area to stay in Da Nang is the My An area of the city. This is the area that directly sits behind My Khe Beach - you want beach access right?!

The best part of Da Nang as a visitor is the stunning sandy beaches which are some of the best beaches and most beautiful city beaches I’ve ever seen, with incredible views, super cheap beach bars and lots of beach activities.

My An (sometimes called the My Khe area, after the beach) is the tourist area where you’ll find more hotel options, places to eat, entertainment and easy transport options. Check out some of my recommended places to eat in Da Nang.

There are plenty of other accommodation options in the city centre and on the other side of the Son Tra Peninsula, you don’t have direct or easy walking-distance access to a beach and being in the city centre definitely feels more chaotic to me!

The Son Tra area which directly fronts onto the beach is also the other area I’d recommend, it’s literally the neighbourhood of Da nang that’s right next to My An - so it’s basically the same place, all with beachfront hotels, great bars and entertainment. It’s just a bit further up the coast and I often find the far end of Son Tra, closer to the Peninsula, not as lively.

My top tips for booking hotels in Vietnam

These tips are for any hotel bookings you make in Vietnam, not just hotels in Danang.

  • Cross-check every hotel on all review platforms! This is my number 1 tip for booking places to stay in Da Nang and Vietnam generally. Check the RECENT reviews on Booking .com (both the good and the bad), also check other platforms like Tripadvisor, the property’s listing on Google and even other booking sites like Expedia or Hotels .com. Many places have fake reviews left by friends or staff of the hotel and these are used to “bury” the bad reviews

  • Many places use old pictures from when the hotel first opened and the reality is that the rooms and property are very tired. While this isn’t necessarily a problem, it can leave you feeling disappointed and frustrated that it’s not really what you paid for. Use tip 1 to check reviews for anyone who has this feedback

  • If you’re unsure about places you’re seeing and reviews you’re reading, go for a well-known chain hotel such as Wyndham, Mercure, Marriott, Holiday Inn, Hilton, Four Seasons, Radisson etc. These places have a much larger network of customer service and online support who will help you if you have any issues or complaints. Most local, independent hotels will not do much (or anything) if you make a complaint.

  • Read the full description and check pictures for windows! Many hotels in Vietnam have no windows or they have a window that directly faces another building so you have no view. If a view or window is important to you - check the description before booking and specifically request a room with a window when booking if it’s not clear whether the room has one.

  • While the affordable prices are tempting, it often is worth paying a little bit more to have somewhere that probably has been updated more recently or is better maintained. The prices are still incredibly affordable, even in more luxury hotels.

Where to stay in Da Nang, Vietnam: the best hotels

Mid-range hotels in Da Nang

I call these mid-range but at around £30-50 a night, you’re getting incredible value for money. Most of these hotels come with an outdoor swimming pool fitness centre, breakfast included and great service.

Estrella Boutique Hotel

I’ve already mentioned how much we loved Estrella Boutique Hotel. This is on the edge of the My An area as the main road it’s on is the boundary between My An and Son Tra.

Estrella was fairly newly opened when we first stayed there in late 2023. The building is modern, the spacious rooms are modern with comfortable beds, great amenities and gorgeous bathrooms.

Breakfast is included, there is an outdoor pool on the roof with great city views as well as a bar area, although this was never open when we stayed. They also have spa facilities and the staff are so lovely and accommodating.

My only slight caveat about it is that it’s on a busy road, however rooms are well-insulated from noise and most roads are busy in Vietnam! It’s just a 10 minute walk straight along this main road to reach the gorgeous white sand My Khe beach. You’re also a short grab ride from the famous Dragon Bridge.

Radisson Hotel Danang

No hidden surprises here! You know exactly what you’re getting with a Radisson and this one comes with a stunning rooftop outdoor infinity pool with beach views. It’s located right on the beach, making the price an absolute steal!

HAIAN Beach Hotel & Spa

This is a super highly reviewed hotel that we walked past everyday during our daily walks along My Khe beach and we always wanted to try it out!

The interior looks super modern with a gorgeous dining area and the rooms are all an amazing size for the beach location! With air-conditioned rooms, private bathrooms and room finishes, breakfast included and a rooftop outdoor pool facing the beach - it really is gorgeous and great value for money.

Glomad Da Nang Hotel

We had a few friends stay here and they really rated it for its affordability (it should maybe be in the budget hotel section!) and lovely staff as well as a great location on the beachfront.

Just beware that their cheapest rooms are the ones that have “no window” so check before you book!

M Hotel Da Nang

I’m playing a risky game here because this hotel was being built the entire time we were there and it’s part of the M Group Hotels chain in Vietnam.

This is a beachfront property and we loved that the whole exterior is covered in plants - we were desperate to try it out before we left as we could see it from our apartment! But sadly it wasn’t finished yet. Now it is available for booking - make sure you check reviews before you do!

They have gorgeous free-standing stone bathtubs, leafy balconies, sound proofing, air conditioning and a rooftop pool and sauna with epic rooftop views. They even offer free private parking which isn’t common this close to the beach!

Wyndham Danang Golden Bay Hotel

If you are looking for somewhere to stay with easy access to Da Nang City Centre, Da Nang Airport and the downtown area, Wyndham Danang Golden Bay Hotel is a five-star hotel with stunning views of the bay and Han River Bridge.

There is an infinity pool on the roof which is 24K gold plated, a fitness center, a free shuttle service to the airport and free bikes for rent. There are also two dining options available onsite and friendly staff on hand to help you plan your trip.

Budget friendly hotels and places to stay in Da Nang

Monalisa Apartments

I had to include this apartment on the budget friendly options because this is the apartment building we stayed in for 2 months!

We loved this apartment so so much! We had previously stayed in an awful neighbourhood with a club down the street and we were so desperate to find somewhere clean, comfortable, quiet and close to the beach and this was it.

The apartments aren’t super modern or high finishes but they are clean, modern enough, spacious and come with 1 or 2 bedrooms, high speed internet, tv with plenty of channels and some rooms have a balcony if you’re facing the road. Our apartment was a back apartment and it had a small enclosed balcony which housed our washer-dryer.

There is a rooftop pool and a sauna, plus a deck area which is great for hanging out, having a few drinks or watching the city at night - which we especially loved to see the New Year and Tet fireworks!

This is a great option if you’re looking for a long term rental in Da Nang or long term accommodation. It’s also great if you’re a family and prefer an apartment-style space with your own kitchen and washer-dryer. They have weekly cleaners too.

We had a great monthly rate for our long term stay in Da Nang but even on booking websites, it looks like you can book an apartment here from as little as £15 - just beware that some studio apartments have no window or the lower-level apartments may look out onto neighbouring buildings.

The Memory - Da Nang

This is a gorgeous modern, minimalist hotel with great prices, breakfast included and it’s right near one of my favourite breweries in the world - East West Brewing - the only brewery on the beach in Southeast Asia!

All rooms have air conditioning, some have a balcony and they also have some hostel dorms available too from as little as £10 a night! If you’re looking for a hostel in Danang, this is the sleekest one I’m sure!

Lavencos Hotel My Khe Beach

This one was another favourite for some friends who were staying in Da Nang short term. The rooms are basic, cheap but clean and comfortable and it’s close to the beach with a rooftop pool.

Affordable and easy!

Senorita Boutique Hotel

We stayed in this hotel in the An Thuong area which is the main area for tourist, nightlife and dining district in My An and it was super cheap, it was fine, clean, breakfast included and one block back from the beach.

However the rooms were tired and so tiny, it was a struggle to fit us both with our two bags. I also wouldn’t have wanted to stay on a lower floor because it was definitely loud on the street outside.

Overall I wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re looking for the cheapest deal in a convenient location and you don’t mind a tiny room!

Best Luxury hotels in Da Nang and the best resorts in Da Nang

I’m sharing these luxury hotels in order of location because the first one is on its own peninsula - the height of luxury! Then Furama and Accor Premier VIllage are the best locations in terms of walkability to My An and My Khe beach as well as loads of restaurants and bars. As you go further down the list, you’re moving further along the coast in the direction of Hoi An and you will need a taxi to get to Da Nang city.

Beachfront Villa

InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort

The most famous hotel in Da Nang!

The InterContinental Danang is the height of luxury hotels in Danang, Vietnam. The 5-star hotel is located on its own on the tip of the Son Tra peninsula and basically gives you a private island feel because nothing else and no one else can access the peninsula unless you’re a hotel guest.

With luxury villages nestled in lush jungle and overlooking a private beach, each villa has its own private pools, a sundeck, balcony and incredible views of the bay. There’s also world-class dining, two large outdoor swimming pools and a spa.

There’s barefoot dining on the sandy beach, a champagne and cigars bar and world-famous dining at La Maison 1888.

If you’ve stayed at an InterContinental before then you know the level of luxury I’m talking about. This luxurious retreat is the place to go for a special trip, like a honeymoon, anniversary or family trip and it’s definitely one of (if not the) best resort in Da Nang.

Furama Resort Danang

While I’ve never stayed at this luxury 5-star resort, I have been to the fabulous events they hold there such as their Tet Lunar New Year party and their Oktoberfest event!

Furama is the resort that’s closest to My An, being just south along the coast on Vo Nguyen Giap road from My An area and lots of the great Da Nang restaurants and beach bars that I recommend.

The resort has rooms, suites and spacious villas. All room options come with gorgeous decor such as timber floors and marble bathrooms, air conditioning and private balconies.

There are 4 dining options, spa facilities and several pools, including freshwater pools.

The resort is located right on the beach, so you have beach access and that includes access to water sports such as kayaking, windsurfing and jet skiing.

Accor Premier Village Danang Resort managed by Accor

A similar resort next door to Furama, all the accommodations here are villas, making it an incredible option if you’re looking for beachfront villas in Da Nang - it steps right out onto Bac My An Beach!

They range from 1 bedroom to 3 bedroom villas and all come with a private pool and free minibar, breakfast included and a massive kitchen, seating area, living space and outdoor living space.

This is a family friendly hotel, so it’s perfect for big families or multi-generational families looking for their own space on a trip.

The white sand beach that the hotel overlooks is stunning and you can see the Cham islands in the distance. One of the most popular beach resorts in Danang, Vietnam.

Tia Wellness Resort

An instagrammers favourite! But seriously, the infinity pool leading to the beach, leading to the sea here is just STUNNING.

All accommodation is again villa-only and the style is modern Vietnamese in monochrome colours - super chic!

All villas come with a private pool, huge windows, air conditioning, an 80-minute massage, breakfast included and beautiful views!

Hyatt Regency DaNang Resort

This is a much more affordable option than the villa-only luxury resorts I’ve mentioned so far. So if you’re more of a hotel room, resort type person, this is for you! Honestly the prices for a resort like this are so good that I’d usually put this kind of room in a mid-range section but that’s prices in Vietnam for you!

Honestly I think this hotel is spectacular and is amazing value for money, its only drawback is how far from the city it is. You’re right opposite the Marble Mountains which is great for an afternoon trip though! But you’d need to take a Grab to get into the city.

However there are several fabulous on-site dining options, a gorgeous beach area, a spa and outdoor pools.

Every room has marble ensuites, air conditioning, private balconies with sea views, rain showers and 24-hour room service.

The style is modern earth tones and it is honestly gorgeous!

They have a great kids camp and family facilities too, so it’s a great option if you prefer to stay around the resort, perhaps on a big family trip!

These are a few more 4-star hotel and resort options which are highly rated and reviewed but we have neither stayed in or know anyone who has:

Hilton Danang Garden Inn

Novotel Danang Premier Han River

Chicland Danang Beach Hotel

Pullman Danang Beach Resort
